Privacy Policy

Effective July 14, 2026

Ink & Syntax is a small studio, not a data company. This page tells you exactly what we collect, why, and where it goes. No legalese we don't mean.

What we collect

We collect the minimum it takes to reply to you or run the free builder:

• Your email address, if you unlock the free carousel builder.
• Your name, email, optional business or Instagram handle, and message, if you use the contact form.
• If you comment on one of our Instagram posts or reels with a keyword we’ve set up, or message our account, we receive your Instagram username and user ID, the text and time of that comment or message, and the ID of the post you commented on. This comes to us through Instagram’s official API.

We also automatically collect some information any time you visit the site — your IP address, the date and time of your visit, your browser and operating system, and referring/exit pages. This comes from standard hosting and server logs (Vercel), and we use it for security, troubleshooting, and basic system administration, not to identify you personally.

How we use it

We use your contact details to reply to you and, if you signed up through the free builder, to send occasional emails about AI tools for creators. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can always email hello@inkandsyntax.com to be removed. Submitting the contact form or the builder gate also sends us a notification email so a person sees it.

When you comment a keyword we’ve set up on one of our Instagram posts, we may send you one automated direct message with the link you asked for. It’s a single reply, not a subscription, and you can just reply to it and a person will see it. We also look at comment and message activity in aggregate to understand which posts and topics land, so we can make better content — not to profile you.

Where it lives & who we share with

We keep the number of processors small on purpose:

• Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
• Resend delivers our emails and stores your contact record (email, name, and whatever you send us) so we can reply and manage the mailing list.
• Supabase is our database. It stores contact and lead records, form submissions, and a log of the Instagram comments and messages that trigger our automated replies.
• Meta / Instagramis the source of the comment and message data described above. We use Instagram’s official API to receive it and to send replies from our own account. Your use of Instagram is also governed by Meta’s own privacy policy and terms.
• Google Fonts loads type on the /builder page only. The main site self-hosts its fonts.

We don't sell your personal information, ever. Beyond the processors above, we only share it: to comply with a court order, law, or legal process; to protect the rights, safety, or property of Ink & Syntax or others; or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business — in which case this policy still governs how your data is treated.

Instagram comments & messages

We run automations on our own Instagram account through Instagram’s official API. If you comment a keyword we’ve set up, our system reads that comment, sends you one direct message with the link you asked for, and keeps a record of the interaction so we can measure how our posts perform. We never post on your behalf, never message people who haven’t interacted with us first, and never sell or hand this data to anyone.

You’re in control of it. You can delete your comment on Instagram at any time, and you can ask us to erase everything we hold about your interactions — email hello@inkandsyntax.com with your Instagram handle and we’ll remove your comment and message records from our database, usually within a few days.

What we don't do

We don't run advertising pixels. We don't set tracking cookies, and we don't use analytics today. If that changes, this page changes first.

Local storage

The free builder uses your browser's local storage, not cookies, to remember three things: that you've unlocked the builder, any carousel draft text you're working on, and whether you've dismissed the cookie notice. All of it stays on your device and never touches our servers.

Your photos

The free builder processes your photos entirely in your browser. They're never uploaded to any server — ours or anyone else's.

Security

We follow industry-standard practices to protect the information you share with us, both in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your data, we'll notify you promptly — within 72 hours where the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask us what we have on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also ask us to restrict how we process it, object to processing, get a copy of your data in a portable format, or withdraw any consent you've given us. Email hello@inkandsyntax.com and we'll handle it, usually within a few days. We may decline a request if it conflicts with something we're legally required to do — like keeping certain records.

Data retention

We keep contact and lead information until you ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it for the purpose we collected it for. Instagram comment and message records are kept for the same reason — measuring how our content performs — and are deleted on request or once they’re no longer useful for that.

Email preferences

We send two kinds of email: transactional messages (like a reply to your contact form) and marketing messages (occasional notes about AI tools for creators, if you signed up through the free builder). You can't opt out of transactional email while we're actively corresponding, but marketing email always has an unsubscribe link, or you can just email us. Opt-outs can take up to 10 days to process. Marketing emails may include standard open- and click-tracking from our email provider, Resend.

Children

Ink & Syntax isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe we have data from a child under 13, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above and post a notice on the site — and email you directly if we have your address — before the change takes effect.
